Vlog: Cartalk Mercedes Benz A180 Halfway Opinion

After the short introduction of this car, I share my first 6 weeks (and 8.500 kilometers!) experience and thoughts I had on this Mercedes Benz A180 Business Solution AMG (W177 / MY2019).

Car used: Mercedes Benz A180 (W177 / MY2019)

The Mercedes Benz A-class W177 is a compact luxury car that was first introduced in 2018. It is part of the German automaker's fourth generation of A-class vehicles and is known for its sleek, modern design and high-tech features.

One of the standout features of the A-class W177 is its interior, which features a minimalist, high-tech design with a large touchscreen display in the center console that controls many of the car's functions. The infotainment system is powered by MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), which uses artificial intelligence and natural language processing to provide a highly personalized experience. The system is able to respond to voice commands and learn the driver's habits over time.

Under the hood, the A-class W177 is available with a variety of engines, including petrol and diesel options, as well as a plug-in hybrid variant. The car is equipped with a front-wheel drive system as standard, but 4MATIC all-wheel drive is available on some models. The A-class W177 has a top speed of around 140 mph and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 6.3 seconds, depending on the engine configuration.

Safety is a key focus of the A-class W177, and the car is equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) designed to help prevent accidents. These include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The A-class W177 also has a high-resolution 360-degree camera system that provides a bird's-eye view of the car and its surroundings.

In terms of overall design, the A-class W177 has a sporty, youthful look that sets it apart from other luxury cars in its class. The car has a low, aerodynamic profile and is available with a range of different wheel designs and color options. The exterior of the A-class W177 is designed to be both stylish and functional, with sharp lines and sculpted curves that improve aerodynamics and help to reduce wind noise.

In conclusion, the Mercedes Benz A-class W177 is a well-rounded luxury car that offers a high-tech interior, advanced safety features, and a stylish exterior. Whether you're looking for a car for daily commuting or long-distance travel, the A-class W177 is a great choice for those seeking a modern, high-performance vehicle with a touch of luxury.

Fuel consumption: Mercedes Benz A180 (W177 / MY2019)

Model (Code / Model Year): Mercedes Benz A180 (W177 / MY2019)

Engine: M 282 DE 14 AL  - 4-cylinder petrol engine (1595 cm3)
Transmission: 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (7-Gang-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (7G-DCT))
Performance: 136hp / 200nm
0 to 100km/h: 8,8 sec
Top speed: 215km/h (134mp/h)
Weight: 1.275kg
Fuel tank (US gallons): 43 liters (11.36 US gallons)

The video below shows the approximate fuel consumption at different (constant) speeds. However, I drove this particular car for 20.000 kilometer on regular driving in different driving conditions. This resulted in a calculated fuel consumption during this trip averaged out at 6.52l / 100km.

In the video I did a test of the consumption at different speeds. Aim of this test is not to give an exact specification of the fuel consumption of this car, but to show an approximation of the fuel consumption under real life circumstances. As the result also depends on tyres, size of the rims, road condition, weather and equipment that may alter the exact weight of the car, your personal experience may differ from mine.
