Spotlight: Mercedes Benz E280 Estate (2006 / Facelift)

"Spotlight" is a new section at Guitigefilmpjes, aimed at making a short "pro-con" review combined with pictures and videos of cars that have been on the market for several years. Because the pictures and videos have been made several years ago, the quality may not be up to the modern standards. Still, Guitigefilmpjes would like to look back on these cars and share this with you.

In 2002 Mercedes Benz introduced a new E-class, called the W211. During the first model years, this car has been plagued by many technical problems, but they had been resolved by the time a facelift was introduced in 2006. This particular car was one of the first facelift models delivered.

Some pro's and con's on the Mercedes Benz E280 Estate:

Pro:
  • Excellent engine that runs very smooth
  • The same can be said for the excellent shifting of the 7G-tronic automatic transmission
  • The sports package is an excellent upgrade for the looks of the car, without looking "overdone", as the AMG-package might be perceived.
  • The sports package comes with an upgraded exhaust with better sound engineering
  • Comfortable car for long journeys
  • Very spacious boot
  • The petrol engined version of the E-class depreciate quite steeply, therefore a bargain on the second hand market
Con:
  • Lacks parktronic, making small obstacles hard to spot
  • Xenon headlamps would increase visibility at night, while also upgrading the looks of the car
  • The screen of the COMAND APS is placed quite low, taking your view of the road
